My Mum

Wow! What a woman, what an awesome woman.
Strength, tenacity, integrity, honesty, intuition, generosity, endless love with abounding compassion and a downright wicked sense of humour. If I’m half as good a mother to my girls that she was to Kim and I, then they really are blessed.
She could stop you in your tracks with a single look, make all the pain in the world disappear with a cuddle and make you see sense through the turmoil within a simple conversation. Yes, growing up she’d pass all the academic stuff over to Dad saying she wasn’t clever enough, yet she was such a magnificent teacher in so many powerful ways.
“It is what it is”.
After decades of being a worrier she learnt, lived by and taught – if you can change it, do something about it. If you can’t change it, don’t worry about it.
The last film I sat and watched with her was ‘Finding Your Feet’. A character in that film asked of her sister “are you afraid of dying”, Mum immediately said “No”. I sat there, stared at her then we both laughed. We video called Daniel and Dez that weekend and I told Daniel, and she again said “Well, I’m not”.
That’s why I know, and you all can be safe knowing, that she is ok.
